An executive decision seminar for the people who fund, govern and defend physical assets. Three days, or four weekly sessions. Live online, or on-site for private groups.
You own aging assets, a budget that can’t fund everything, imperfect data and stakeholders who disagree. You’re judged on the decisions you make under exactly those conditions.
When a board or council asks that question, the honest answer is often harder than it should be. This seminar gives you a defensible one. It is built around decisions and a single case. Your staff build the models; you learn to govern the trade-offs and defend them.
You work one realistic organization, the City of Riverside, from a Year-0 crisis to a defensible multi-year investment plan through six decisions. Then you take what you learned back to your own organization.
Six competing claims, one line of money, and a champion for every project.
An honest read of where the organization is, and who gets to decide what.
Condition, criticality and risk point in different directions, and you have to choose.
The model ranks one project first. Decide whether that ranking should stand.
Fund, phase or defer, and write down the risk you are accepting.
Present and defend your plan to a mock board that asks the hard questions.
Best for busy calendars. Live online, with light pre-work between sessions. About 10 contact hours.
Best for offsites and leadership retreats. Live online, or on-site for private groups.
Either format, delivered for your organization, with your real decisions alongside the case.
Every seat includes a hardcover copy of the book, the participant workbook, the Riverside case, session slides and a certificate of completion with contact hours. Dates for the inaugural cohort are coming soon. Join the list to hear first.
No. This is a decision seminar for leaders. Your staff run the models; you learn to govern, challenge and defend them. For the people who build the models, see the 15-week course.
Yes, and it’s often the best fit. Private sessions run live online or on-site and can bring your own decisions into the room. Ask Scott.
Every participant receives a certificate listing contact hours for self-reporting. Whether it counts toward your license or credential depends on your board or certifying body.
Most seats are paid by the organization. We invoice, accept purchase orders, and can send a W-9 and a one-page quote up front for procurement.
Seats are limited to keep the room discussion-led. Leave your details and Scott will send dates and next steps before they go out publicly.
See the approach first. The free executive briefings cover the decisions boards question most, with time for your questions.
